Day & Night Projects Announces Changes in Leadership in 2026
Day & Night Projects is excited to announce our new Co-Director, Makeda Jean Lewis-Kinuthia.
Makeda Jean Lewis-Kinuthia is an Atlanta-based artist, casual documentarian, synthesizer, and fried-fish-eater. She is a Georgia State graduate, a former MINT gallery administrator, and current Program Manager at Atlanta Center for Photography. Day & Night followers will remember her solo exhibition and love was a burning fence about my house from October 2024. Makeda’s art writing and other projects can be found here: makedalewis.com.
Makeda expressed her excitement: “I'm super grateful for the opportunity to expand my devotion to and knowledge of the art community in Atlanta, working with a gallery and team I've long admired. I look forward to learning, deepening my community engagement practices and contributing what I have to support the growth of Day and Night Projects!”
Lewis-Kinuthia joins co-founders Steven L. Anderson and William Downs in guiding the organization towards a compelling future. In 2026 Day & Night will celebrate our 10th anniversary with new exhibitions by our soon-to-be-announced Open Call finalists, a collaboration with Atlanta Center for Photography, and participation in the 3rd annual Atlanta Art Fair.
We would like to thank and honor Éngel Ellis, as she steps down from her two-plus years as Co-Director. Ellis will continue as a Day & Night Projects part-time team member. Éngel has been critical to our success during her tenure, which has included two solo curation projects as Kei Museum: HOME: The Artistry and Mind of Anna Noel, and Black Folk Stars, Part 2: Black Folks Are Naturally Iconic—artworks by Daniel Gilstrap.
