May 29–June 28, 2025
Opening Reception Thursday, May 29, 7-10pm
Day & Night Projects is proud to present On Unstable Grounds, a solo exhibition by New York-based artist Nneka Kai.
On Unstable Grounds breathes in and out—held in the tension between stillness and urgency, containment and release. The artist uses braided hair, found objects, and sound to create artworks where time and voice feel omnipresent, pressing against the boundaries of language and form. At the core of Kai’s artistic practice lies the search for the free Black feminine form; a search that is eternal, suspended, and fugitive. The Black femme form evades capture, finding shape only in the periphery—within walls, beneath the sea, between a mother’s legs.
On Unstable Grounds will open with a free, public reception on Thursday, May 29, 7–10pm, and the artist will be present. Viewing hours are Fridays and Saturdays,12–5pm, or by appointment.
